What is included
Fun 2 to 3 crafts activities featuring around a particular theme for that month.
April’s Koala Crate box theme was about bugs! Totally apt for the fun spring-related activities.
As always you get 3 separate activities in each box. Everything is included in the box, so you usually do not need anything from your end.
We love the Imagine magazine that you get in the box. The pictures are colorful and it is so much easier and fun to read. My daughter looks forward to this little magazine every month as it’s almost like reading a story.
Along with a short story, there are always additional activities in the magazine that teach educational concepts in a fun way. Such as the seek & find activity below.
Bug Dress Up
The star craft of this month’s Koala Crate box was the bug dress up! We started off with this one as my daughter was way too eager to make her own very wings and dress herself up as a bug. The instruction booklet is always very detailed and clearly explains each step, making it very easy to follow through.
Everything that was needed to make your own bug dress.
This activity was perfect for a 3 year old as she could easily do it herself without much help from me. She loved decorating the wings with the provided felt cutouts.
Hard at work, already wearing the headband with antennas that we made using the pipecleaner.
My little bugsy bug! She was so excited about her creation and loved playing with it!
She was nice enough to share her bug dress up with the little sister (17 month old) for a bit as well, who equally loved it! Love Koala Crate for creating crafts that are 100% doable for little hands as well as safe and fun for them.
Next activity we hopped on to was making our little ladybug pouch. This was a relatively quicker one.
All the pieces that were required to make the pouch can be seen below.
My daughter enjoyed decorating the ladybug, however I had to thread the string in the loops as it was a bit difficult for her. But overall it was a much simpler and quicker activity.
Playing around with the bug eye viewer. I liked the inclusion of this as you can teach your child about lens and insect eyes.
Bug Matching Game
This was a fun matching activity that can be used as a matching game or a memory game. There were 10 different bugs on the cards, so in addition, your child also learns about the different kind of bug names.
We had so much fun doing the matching and then later playing the memory game with these cards.
I have to say the quality of these cards is top notch and these will surely last a long time! Absolutely perfect for teaching toddlers and preschoolers.
Koala Crate never fails to dissappoint us! The activities this month were colorful and hands-on as always! Also, the STEM concepts are always embedded in these activities so the little ones not only have fun, but they also learn so much more. While these activities probably won’t last a whole month, they are great for an afternoon or screen-free play time. We can’t wait for what’s in store next month! 🙂
