Activity # 1: Art Smock

Koala Crate Subscription Box Review - May 2017

All the materials needed for this activity as seen below. It was relatively simpler one. I wrote my daughter’s name on the card and she used the paints provided to trace her name.

I have to mention that I absolutely love the paints included in the box. They are washable and non-toxic, perfect for tiny tots to make as much mess as they want.

Ms. H enjoyed tracing the paint over her name. We placed it in the plastic pocket of the smock after. It made most sense to start with this activity so she can wear her smock while playing with paints. Little artist in the making, for sure! ha 😉

Activity # 2: Color Block Painting

This was the most fun for my daughter. We mixed the colors to create more colors and she was totally in awe of her block painting when I removed the tape from the canvas.

All set to get started on our block painting.

I also liked how this creative art activity lets your little one understand the concept of painting or coloring within the lines.

So proud of our final look.

She promptly hung it up on the door handle ha ha — using the provided fabric strip. 🙂 I am going to put it up in our playroom, one of these days.

Activity # 3 Abstract Sculpture

Materials needed to make your sculpture.

Koala Crate Subscription Box Review - May 2017

We had to use the paint and squeeze it into the box. Later, we added in the little balls and gave a good shake to the box. And that’s how we got the balls and the paper shapes painted. A super fun and hands-on activity.

On to creating the sculpture, once everything was dried up!

Koala Crate Subscription Box Review - May 2017

We used the pipe cleaners and added in our little balls and paper shapes to create this little thing here! Ms. H actually quite enjoyed this one as it required her to use her hands and create something. Perfect project for developing gross motor skills.

Verdict

Overall we enjoyed the 3 activities from Koala Crate this month. However, they were not super exciting compared to the last couple boxes we have received. There was some educational content, but for the most part these were basic art activities. Ms. H, however loved the color block painting project and that’s something we would love to do more of. If anything, these will be perfect to keep your toddler busy on a rainy day!
