Books are selected by parents and a nationally certified speech-language pathologist. They are engaging and will keep your child’s attention. The selected books also help facilitate children’s speech, language, and pre-literacy skills.
We opted for the Picture Books package, so let’s see what fun books we got this month! 🙂
Can we talk about packaging for a second? The books came gorgeously wrapped in a pretty tissue paper and that instantly upped our excitement quotient.
The very helpful parents guide right at the top.
The guide explains the reason for the selection of each book included in your box! How cool is that? Just so we know that we are not just receiving randomly selected books. It entails details about enhancing vocabulary for each age group such as toddlers, preschoolers, and early elementary kids. It also lists examples of hands-on activities the books are read to the kids. Truly a very thorough and helpful guide. I personally loved it and felt we got so much out of it in terms of enhancing my 3-year old’s vocabulary as well as an overall understanding of the stories.
The other side lists the details for the second picture book.
Picture Book # 1: Ollie & Claire by Tiffany Strelitz Haber
This fun story is about Ollie and Claire who are tight as two friends can be. It is about friendship with a fun twist leading to a surprise ending.
The illustrations and the rhyming text is both fun and entertaining to read out loud.
The message is heartwarming and sweet and would truly appeal to kids of all ages as it illustrates the value of friendship. My 3-year-old is just learning to start making friends, so it turned out to be a perfect topic for her! Definitely something we’ll be reading every night.
Picture Book # 2: Elephant’s Story by Tracey Campbell Pearson
Another great book that is meant to help a child understand the concept and connection between letters and words. Elephant’s Story is a unique tale about a curious elephant who accidentally sniffs the words right off his friend’s book.
So throughout the book, he is looking for a friend to put the words back into the book making it a delightful tale about how a little girl helps him out.
I thought it was very imaginative and full of humor. My daughter was completely in awe of story throughout and couldn’t wait for me to read it to her again!
The Story Box turned out to be a phenomenal subscription in terms of the selection of the books this month! We loved both the picture books and felt that they were absolutely age-appropriate with heartwarming messages within. The packaging also makes for an exciting unboxing experience for little ones. In terms of the costs of the books, I found them to be at par with (Amazon’s values). I particularly loved the inclusion of the parent guide and found it to be very beneficial! As a busy parent, I rarely have the time to go out and do research on the books that I want my kids to read, and The Story Box does just that for you! Check them out, you won’t be disappointed :).
