What’s inside
Fun 2 to 3 crafts activities featuring around a particular theme for that month.
This month theme was all about ocean and the creatures within! Definitely fun for any 2-4 year old.
Our handy dandy instruction card detailing all 3 crafts for the month!
A monthly magazine filled with activities and a fun story! My 3-year-old excitedly looks forward to the story of Ella, Peter and Kellan every month. What I love about the story as a parent is that there is always an important lesson that is taught – be it about accepting differences, making friends etc. So very appropriate for this age level.
The very detailed instruction booklet for the 3 ocean related crafts!
Let’s get started!
Activity # 1: Watercolor Fish
Everything needed to make our watercolor fishies. You get plenty of cutouts so there was definitely enough for more than one child in this box. Personally, I am am always impressed with the quality of crafts that KiwiCo sends out.
We used a kitchen towel to put underneath the fishes since we had to spray with water after coloring to give the fishes a more “painted” look. Kind of a neat way to make them paint without the messiness. 😉
Coloring away.
Fishes are ready for the next step. 🙂
Activity # 2: Fishing Game
Ready to dive into gluing the fishies onto the cards!
We then used the hook and the stick to play a pretend fishing game. This was actually a lot of fun and my 3 year old thoroughly enjoyed it. Great for hand-eye coordination as well. Plenty of fishes were ready to be caught. 😉
Activity # 3: Sea Creatures Puzzle
If there is anything in this world that my 3-year-old loves, it is puzzles! Give her any kind and she will spend hours. This was relatively on the easier side of her, since it was mostly matching the pictures on the foam board. But still good fun!
Another activity suggested was to use the foam cutouts, draw out the fishes and color them in for some more “painting” fun! So we did just that, since it was relatively a quicker activity.
Verdict
We have been thoroughly enjoying our Koala Crate boxes! However, I might just need to advance my 3-year-old to the next box – Kiwi Crate, since she is starting to find these activities a bit on the easier side. Nonetheless, if you have a 2-4 year old in the family, I would highly recommend Koala Crate as it truly is the most fun box for any toddler/preschooler! And for a limited time, get 40% off your first box with code FRIENDS40. Hurry as it expires on Sunday, September 24th! Enjoy.
