Game night is a huge thing in our family! And we have been making a conscious effort in regards to ensuring that our kids have very limited screen time. It isn’t easy to do that especially when mommy and daddy are busy on their phones or laptops too, so we make a point to keep aside an hour or so every day to just chill, relax and play games! ๐ Goliath Games was kind enough to send us a couple games that turned out to be just perfect for our family nights!
Let’s start with the game that we have all become obsessed with! ๐
Giggle Wiggle The Twisting Turning Race-to-the-Top Game – $17.98
Giggle Wiggle is a cute caterpillar with several hands to spare. It is for ages 4+ as the marbles could be a choking hazard for little ones, so be extra careful if you have crawlers in your house!
Our Mr. Caterpillar is all ready to be assembled.
How to play: The goal is to race to the top by placing your colored balls/marbles starting from the bottom row of his hands to all the way to the top as Mr. Caterpillar wiggles to his music. He will also try to knock off your marbles as you are playing – which makes it all the more fun!
This game has become an instant hit in our family – the girls wait for daddy to come home, so they can race to the top with him. ๐ I also think it is a great way to hone in on those fine motor skills for the 4+ age group, as you get to pick up the marbles and place them on the wiggly caterpillar.
Goliath Jumping Jack Game – $16.79
Another winner for us! This game is all about picking the most carrots! We actually thought this was more entertaining than Pop The Pig, simply because the bunny can jump up randomly on your turn, and trying to catch it makes it way more fun. ย ๐
Right out of the box and ready to be put together to begin our carrot-collecting / bunny hop adventure ๐
How to play:ย Spin the spinner to see how many carrots you get to pick from Jack’s bunny hill, but don’t make him jump! If Jumping Jack jumps out of his hole on your turn, be sure to catch him. If he’s not caught, then whoever has the most carrots wins the game.
Both my girls can calmly play this one for a solid 40 minutes! And that’s hours in toddler years. ๐ I personally love that they are learning to understand the “rules” of the game as they take turns.
And of course, we couldn’t let go of the opportunity to turn it into an even more educational game – so here is my 4-year-old counting her carrots as she collected them. I also utilized the colorful smaller buckets and introduced some very basic addition & subtraction, so yay win-win for this mama! ๐ย Love sneaking in someย while the kiddos are at play! ๐
Goliath Greedy Granny Kids Game
This was probably the least of our favorites, but can be more fun for the older crowd.
The story behind the game is that Granny’s been keeping all of the treats to herself, and it’s time to claim some as your own.
How to play:ย Spin the wheel to choose a treat to swipe, and sneakily remove it from Granny’s tray. But take care, because if Granny discovers that you’ve been stealing, she won’t be happy – and her teeth will fly out! You have to collect all of Granny’s treats without waking her up to secure the win.
The girls were still pretty thrilled to start being sneaky in terms of grabbing the treats from Granny’s tray – and it did startle my 2-year-old when the Granny’s teeth popped out. ๐ But, nonetheless, it was a fun way for the kids to learn the ability to focus and pay attention to the details. ๐
Verdict
What a fabulous lot by Goliath Games. You can’t have a boring family game night with any of these games present in your collection! Our favorites were the Giggle Wiggle and Jumping Jack. We were also thrilled to combine solid entertainment & quality-time along with utilizing these games as learning tools for our preschoolers. ๐
