Kid Wonder is a monthly subscription that is all about encouraging children to learn through play. It is founded by 2 moms who understand the alluring power of screen time. What’s inside?
- 4-5 hands-on activities
Okay firstly how bright and cheery is the box itself? The box also always demonstrates the theme of the month, so expect to see a different box each month, which I think is so exciting! The colorful packaging instantly illustrates that it is all about themed imaginative play.
Everything inside our August box! The theme this month was all having some Pirates & Mermaid-themed fun! 🙂
Each of the 5 individual themes as they pertain to the Main theme of the month come individually bagged. And within each numbered bag are at least 2-4 crafts. So realistically, you are getting at least 15 crafts and fun activities in the box, which is more than enough to last the whole month or more! Pretty awesome, I’d say. 😉
You also receive a very detailed and colorful information booklet with more activities inside.
Learning all about who were the pirates in easy to understand wording.
Educational activities and reading practice as it relates to the theme of the month. I’d say this was great in terms of reinforcing the newly learned concepts regarding Pirates & Mermaids for my 4-year-old and 2 years old!
Next month’s sneak peek is there too – the month of September is going to be all about Outdoor Adventures and enjoying the Wilderness experience. Super fun! 🙂
Let’s check out what the kiddos learned about Pirates! Each activity/craft is numbered so it always makes sense to just follow the sequence. 🙂 The first activity is always about dress-up fun as it pertains to the theme of the month and I love how neatly everything comes organized.
01| Dress Like A Pirate
Everything required to dress up and act like a pirate! Spy some really fun activities in there.
Little pirate is ready with her eye patch and the pirate hat! Ignore the apron that wasn’t taken off after painting her Polly The Parrot. 😉
Polly The Parrot took her sweet time in being ready. 😉 My kiddos couldn’t wait to glue the velcro attachment on the painted roll, so we struggled a bit with that part. However, it was super fun for them to attach the colorful feathers and get in some sensory fun while at it. 🙂
Talk like a pirate with this activity. My kids are a bit on the younger end for this, so we kept it aside for later. 🙂
02 | An Arrr-Mazing Show
Time to create your very own puppet show by making a pirate and mermaid creature using the wooden spoons. This was so cute.
The girls had a ball of a time making up a story while pretend-playing with their very own created puppets!
Another super fun game that my girls couldn’t get enough was this straw and pom pom game where the pom poms were used as cannon balls and you had to shoot them into a proper place on the card using the straw. So, so fun. We all took turns and played for hours! What a great way for kids to collaborate and work together. 🙂
The 02 package contained another game (similar to Snakes & Ladders) except it related to the Under The Sea and pirate theme.
03 | Treasure Hunt
Time to get the kids up and about as they learn to become pirates in a Pirate Training Camp and find the hidden treasure.
Can’t even begin to tell you how fun this was for the entire family! This was our loot/”treasure” that the kids had to find using the clues provided in the bag.
04 | Pirate’s Booty Slime!
The most awaited activity bag! I mean how can making your own booty slime not be fun, right?
Going ahead and mixing in the liquid gold color into the glue! Love that mess mats are aways included for the messy activities.
Adding in the slime activator.
Letting the fun begin! And this lasted for a solid hour. The longer my kiddo played with the slime, the better the consistency became.
Stored in the include baggie for later use. Pretty awesome of Kid Wonder Box to include the bag too. 🙂
05 | Design A Pirate Ship!
Our final activity kit was all about designing a pirate ship. Everything pictured included in the kit (even the scissors!).
Cutting out sail parts to go on our wooden boat. Great to hone-in on those gross motor skills.
The included instructions were pretty easy to follow and we were able to create our ship fairly quickly!
This activity bag also included an educational activity to sort the letters into the correct column – perfect for a 4-year-old who has mastered her lowercase and uppercase letters! 🙂
Verdict
Kid Wonder Box never fails to surprise me with the sheer amount of activities packed in one box! The individual 5 mini-themes further add to the creativity of the main theme. And the kids always finish off the activities of the box with a solid learning experience while having tons of fun! This one is a must-try! Get 30% off your first box with the coupon code HAPPY30.
