What’s Inside?
Everything (almost!) you need to decorate cookies and make 2 candy crafts (15 to 20 finished items each month). Because the items in the box are perishable, you have to make sure to use up before a certain date that your box lists.
I also have to admit that I love the name Gramma In A Box – it instantly conjures up memories of me as a kid baking treats with my grandma!
Everything inside our Teacher’s Apple-themed month. How pretty does everything look?
The theme of the September box was all about Back-To-School treats. So we will be making Pencil-shaped Wafers, ABC Frosted Sugar Cookies and Marshmallow Teacher’s Apples! π
I personally love how detailed the instructions always are!
The flip side lists all the ingredients – so you are well aware of what’s being consumed in case of allergies etc.
Let’s get started with some real fun now, shall we? π
Project #1: Wafer Pencils
We set out our wax paper/mess mat (included in our box) and all the items needed to create the first project. The melted chocolate needed to be warmed up in the microwave for a minute or two!
The girls then dipped the square end of the pencil-shaped wafer into the melted chocolate and then into the red sprinkles to give the look of the eraser (how very creative!)
Next, we dipped the pointed part back into the melted chocolate and added a chocolate chip right on top! And voila, delicious wafer pencils were ready. π
Project #2: Teachers’ Apples
We used the same melted chocolate from the 1st project to work on this one. I have to note that I find the instructions very crystal clear and I love how fun the whole process actually turns out to be since you really don’t have to ever bake anything (which is essentially the most time-consuming and perhaps the messiest part of the process, right?) ;). Just get down to the fun decorations with the kiddos and let them have all the fun without you doing all the hard work.
We also got a popsicle stick in the box for the marshmallow and that made for a very easy and mess-free dipping experience! π
Added the pretzels and the candy leaves on top to finish off the marshmallow decorations! Don’t they look like just the perfect red apples? π
Project #3: Back To School Cookies
I have to mention these cookies were delicious, and I am not exactly a fan of sugar cookies, but we just couldn’t stop munching on these! Everything required to get started with frosting these ABC cookies!
Teamwork gets the job done! π
The little one was definitely more interested in munching the cookies rather than decorating, ha. π
Our finished platter of all the decorated goodies! The girls were pretty proud of themselves, just like this mama was. π And let’s not forget about all the fun we had while doing all this!
Verdict
We had a blast decorating the baked goodies and treats! There’s always enough to be easily shared between siblings and I love how everything comes individually portioned and bagged. If you just want to spend some quality time with the kiddos while letting them have all the fun decorating their hearts out, then don’t forget to give Gramma In A Box a try. And grab the limited time deal and get 3 boxes (October, November & December) for only $45 with coupon code 10off.Β
