Everything inside the September box!
The theme of the month is Ghost and Ghoulies! Prepping the kiddos for Halloween and building up the excitement for Trick or Treating! 🙂
The information booklet has more fun & creative activities along with an interview with an artist!
Next month’s spoiler is in there as well! The theme of the October OwlCrate Jr. is Mail Call! Sounds pretty exciting.
Let’s check out the goodies in detail. 🙂
Book Of The Month: City Of Ghosts By Victoria Schwab – $17.99
Paranormal is definitely the new normal! City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab is about a girl named Cassidy who befriends a ghost.
The story revolves around her friendship with the ghost named Jacob, as she explores the haunted cities during her travels along with discovering the strange power she has.
I browsed through the book and found it to be an easy read and certainly very age-appropriate for the 8-12 years old crowd. This would make a lovely addition to your young readers’ paranormal section of the bookshelf! 🙂
Crafted Van Magnetic Ghost Bookmark – $3.00
How adorable is this ghost bookmark?
It is magnetic and easily attaches to any page. Certainly adds to the spooky theme of the month. And one can really never have enough bookmarks around the house. 🙂
National Geographic Kids Funny Fill-In Book – $4.99
This book is filled with excitement and hilarity and will keep the kids busy for hours!
The interactive book will challenge the kids to think about words in creative ways and write up their own wild and wacky stories!
Disney Funko Pocket Pop! Key Chain (The Nightmare Before Christmas) – $5.95
A stylized collectible keychain that certainly adds to the spooky factor of the ghost-themed month. Been a fan of the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas, so I was excited to see what character I’d receive. 😉
I was hoping to receive Sally or Jack, but I suppose Mr. Barrel here would suffice. ha. 🙂 The cool thing about the keychain is that it can detach so the kids can use the character as a toy figure!
Stickii Happy Halloween Stickers
A fun Halloween themed package of stickers by Stickii (a monthly sticker subscription). Perfect for grade school kids to decorate their notebooks with spooky stickers as Halloween approaches! 🙂
Erin Gibbs Ghost Hunter Iron-On Patch
We also received this iron on Ghost hunter patch by the artist Erin Gibbs. Read her interview in the information booklet of the month so it was fun to receive an item by the artist herself!
Veep Doodles Trick Or Treat Tote Bag – $10?
How adorable is this Trick or Treat tote? It is a pretty sizable bag and will be more than enough for all the trick or treating fun about to happen next month!
Certainly very age-appropriate, because I don’t see any 8+ kiddos carrying pumpkin baskets for trick or treating. ha 🙂 So this will be much cooler and bigger to carry around. 🙂
Ghost Pin
Another adorable collectible pin to add to your little paranormal-obsessed kiddos’ collection. Perfect to go on the backpack or anywhere else they want to display their Halloween spirit/excitement. 🙂
Verdict
What a fun box filled with themed and creative goodies by OwlCrate Jr. for the budding reader! While I have seen my share of boxes for kids ages 2-5, I was pleasantly surprised to see a monthly book subscription that offers so much in terms of encouraging creativity, imagination, and exploration amongst the 8-12-year-old children. Definitely a must-have if you have kids in that age-range as all the items tie in beautifully to the theme/book of the month! Don’t forget to use the coupon code THISMAMA to get 10% off your first month! 🙂
