Holiday season means traveling and spending time with family and friends! There is something magical in the air during the festive season, isn’t it? Both my husband and I have our families in different parts of the country, so we have mastered the art of road tripping with little kids. And our go-to resource for getting all the tips for a stress-free travel has always been Autotrader

Which is why I am going to share a few of my own tips in conjunction with Autotrader’s immensely helpful resources to make your holiday travel fun, safe and easy!

I love how Autotrader has made car buying easier than ever, but it is now also making our holiday travel a breeze with the “Joy to the Road” gift box that we received a few days ago. It came jam-packed with pretty much everything to make our upcoming travel plans go as smoothly as possible.

All the road essentials in one box right here! From fuzzy socks, beanie, seasonal snacks, Instax Mini Camera, Bluetooth headphones, travel mug to car activities for the kiddos and much more!

I can almost assure you that we are taking pretty much everything with us on our road trip soon! So without further adieu, let’s jump into my 5 tips on how to survive holiday travel with kids.

  1. Comfort is Key!

When traveling with little ones, it is imperative to make sure that they are comfortable which in turn will make the parents’ lives much easier! So you want to make sure that there are family-friendly features in the car, especially when you have multiple carseats at the back. For more information on this, browse 6 Family-Friendly Features You Didn’t Know You Needed to Survive Holiday Road Trips.

  1. Load Up On Kid-Friendly Activities!

I do not say this lightly at all. But you need as many activities you can grab, to keep the little ones occupied throughout the road trip! Which means getting your hands on all kinds of sticker books, coloring books, crayons, you name it. 1. Snacks, Snacks, and then Some More!

You can never carry enough snacks when driving long distance with the kids. I usually create separate bags for each child filled with individual ziplock bags that are filled with various snacks to be used during the duration of the ride. And that always helps!

  1. Be Prepared to Take Bathroom Breaks!

This one goes without saying, so give yourself ample time when planning your route. Especially with winter travel, the weather could get unpredictable, so it’s always good to give yourself enough time especially when traveling with little kids who need to stop for potty breaks more often than not! We usually stop a few times at the rest stops to give ourselves a little break and let the kids freshen up!

  1. Lastly, Enjoy The Ride!

This one gets ignored quite a bit, which is why I am so happy to see it as one of the tips at Long Holiday Trip Tips . Especially when you have toddlers throwing all kinds of tantrums at the back, enjoying the ride becomes tedious and long. But as long as you have all the amenities to keep the kiddos distracted at the back, you need to just go with the flow! So it’s okay if things do not go as planned or on time, just remember, you are making memories as a family, so enjoy your adventure!

I am glad for all the resources available via Autotrader to make our road-tripping this holiday season so much easier and stress-free. I hope you found this as helpful as I did.

Hope you all have a safe and happy Holiday season!
